Apixaban is one of the newer anticoagulants (blood thinners) and is now one of the most prescribed in the UK. It reduces the risk of stroke in people with atrial fibrillation and prevents and treats blood clots. Twice daily, no regular blood tests needed.

No direct effect on driving. However, be aware of bleeding risk during activities.

Adults 18 and over. Warfarin may be used in children under specialist supervision.
