In brief…

Insulin aspart (NovoRapid, Fiasp) is a rapid-acting insulin taken just before meals to cover the blood sugar rise from eating. It starts working within 10-20 minutes, peaks at around 1 hour, and is gone within 3-5 hours. In type 1 diabetes, it’s used alongside basal insulin; in type 2, it’s added when basal insulin alone can’t control mealtime glucose spikes.
