Mauritius visa medical.

Mauritius asks for its medical certificate to be issued by a doctor in Mauritius after you arrive. Before you travel, we can do the tests Mauritius lets you have in your own country: full blood count, syphilis (VDRL), urine and stool.

East & Southern Africa

  • A doctor every time
  • Today, every day.

What does the appointment involve?

A Mauritius visa medical generally involves the following. This reflects Mauritius's current requirements as far as we know today.

  • Examination: The Medical Certificate (Annex 9 of the EDB guidelines) is completed by a registered doctor in Mauritius after you arrive. Three tests must be done in Mauritius at a registered laboratory or clinic.

  • Bloods: Full blood count and syphilis (VDRL) can be done with us before you travel; hepatitis B must be done in Mauritius. Additional charge, confirmed at consultation.

  • Chest X-ray: Must be done in Mauritius, so we do not arrange it.

  • Other tests: HIV must be done in Mauritius. Urine and stool tests can be done with us before you travel.

  • The report: The certificate itself is issued in Mauritius. We give you signed results of the tests we do, to take with you.

Is there anything else I should know?

  • Requirements and forms are your responsibility. Visa medical requirements change and embassies do not always announce it, so you must check the current requirements directly with the Mauritius embassy or High Commission in London, obtain the correct forms, and satisfy yourself that you have exactly what your application needs. We will help wherever we can, but confirming what Mauritius requires is yours to do.

  • Most of this process is completed in Mauritius; we do the tests you may have before you travel.

  • The certificate is issued by a doctor in Mauritius for every category, including Young Professionals, so plan that part for after your Approval in Principle.

What does Mauritius ask for?

For an Occupation Permit or Residence Permit, Mauritius asks for a medical certificate issued by a registered doctor in Mauritius, after you arrive. Three tests must be done in Mauritius at a registered laboratory or clinic: hepatitis B, HIV and a chest X-ray. The other required tests (full blood count, syphilis (VDRL), urine and stool) can be done in your home country before you travel, and we can arrange these for you to take with you. All tests must be less than six months old when your application goes in. Requirements and forms can change, so please check the current requirements and form with the Economic Development Board of Mauritius or your agent before you book.
