Already on treatment?

If you are on this medication from another clinic, an NHS service, or an online provider, and you want to move your care to us, you are very welcome. Bring whatever records you have and we will take it from there. No obligation to switch onto a subscription.

What's covered

Your £120 covers the consultation, UKMEC safety screening, prescription dispensed by our pharmacy, and your medical record entry. Medication is priced separately.

Doctor consultation

15 minutes with a registered GP. In person, by video, or by phone.

UKMEC safety screening

The NHS-aligned framework for what's safe for whom. Identifies the small number of women for whom certain pills are not safe.

Prescription

Dispensed by our pharmacy. Same-day for in-person consultations; on the day for video or phone.

Switching, restarting

A 15-minute consultation is enough for most switches. We discuss what you've tried, what's worked, what hasn't.

Side-effect management

Most side effects of a combined pill settle within three months. Switching to a different formulation often resolves it.

Repeat prescriptions

Subscription option: ongoing supply with a 6-monthly review.

The contraception we prescribe

We prescribe oral contraception: combined hormonal pills, progestogen-only pills, and emergency contraception. Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC: implants, IUDs, injections) is not fitted at LoveMyLife; for LARC, NHS sexual health services and most GP surgeries offer free fitting.

Combined pills (oestrogen plus progestogen)

Most common type. Many brands available; the doctor recommends based on your medical history, side-effect priorities, and what you've used before. UKMEC criteria identify the small number of women for whom combined pills are not safe (migraine with aura, smoking over 35, certain cardiovascular risks, breastfeeding under 6 weeks postpartum, certain other conditions).

Progestogen-only pills (POP)

For women who can't take combined pills (breastfeeding, migraine with aura, over 35 and smoking, certain other conditions). Modern POPs (drospirenone-containing) have a 24-hour missed-pill window, which is more forgiving than older POPs.

Emergency contraception

Levonorgestrel (effective up to 72 hours after unprotected sex) and ulipristal acetate (effective up to 120 hours). Both available by prescription; ulipristal is more effective in the later window.

How you see us

Most people see us in one of three ways. Pick the one that suits where you are.

Once. Book a single consultation. We assess you, prescribe if appropriate, dispense, and you are on your way. No subscription, no follow-up, nothing else to commit to. If you want to come back, you book again when you need to.

Already on treatment. If you are already taking this medication from somewhere else and want to move your care to us, you are very welcome. Bring whatever records you have and we will take it from there. There is no obligation to switch to a subscription — you can stay on whatever cadence suits you.

Ongoing care. If you would rather we look after this in the background, a monthly subscription bundles your medication and reviews into one regular payment. Pause or cancel when you like. We do not charge an exit fee. Most people on subscription started with a one-off and decided they wanted us to take it off their plate.

Order direct. If you have used this medication before and just want a repeat, you can order oral contraception from our pharmacy without a consultation. A doctor and pharmacist clinically review every order before it ships. Order direct: /pharmacy/endocrine/microgynon
