Dexamfetamine (Amfexa) is the immediate-release form of the active amphetamine in Elvanse. It lasts 4-6 hours and needs to be taken 2-3 times daily. It’s used when lisdexamfetamine’s 12-14 hour duration is too long (interfering with sleep or appetite), when flexible timing is needed, or as a top-up alongside lisdexamfetamine for early-morning or late-evening coverage.

Driving & machinery

May affect ability to drive. Dizziness, drowsiness, and visual disturbances have been reported. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.

Age restriction

Methylphenidate/lisdexamfetamine: children 6 and over, and adults. Atomoxetine: children 6 and over, and adults. Guanfacine: children 6-17 (MR formulation). All must be initiated by a specialist in ADHD.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
