Lisdexamfetamine (Elvanse) is a long-acting amphetamine-based stimulant and is one of two first-line options for adults with ADHD (alongside methylphenidate). It’s a prodrug - inactive until it’s metabolised in the body, which gives it a smooth onset, consistent 12-14 hour duration, and very low abuse potential compared to other amphetamines. For many adults, Elvanse is the medication that finally works after methylphenidate hasn’t delivered enough.

Driving & machinery

May affect ability to drive. Dizziness, drowsiness, and visual disturbances have been reported. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.

Age restriction

Methylphenidate/lisdexamfetamine: children 6 and over, and adults. Atomoxetine: children 6 and over, and adults. Guanfacine: children 6-17 (MR formulation). All must be initiated by a specialist in ADHD.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
