Bendroflumethiazide is a thiazide diuretic -- a 'water tablet' that helps lower blood pressure by encouraging your kidneys to remove a little more salt and water from the body. At the low 2.5mg dose used for blood pressure, the diuretic effect is mild but the blood pressure benefit is significant.
