In brief…

Terbinafine is the most effective oral antifungal for dermatophyte infections - the fungi responsible for athlete’s foot, ringworm and fungal nail infections (onychomycosis). For fungal nails, a 3-6 month course achieves cure rates of 70-80%. It accumulates in skin, nails and hair where it persists for months after stopping.
