Escitalopram is the refined version of citalopram -- it contains only the active mirror-image molecule, making it roughly twice as potent at half the dose. Some studies suggest it may be slightly more effective and better tolerated than other SSRIs. A premium first-line option.

Safety information

Driving & machinery

May cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision, especially in the first few weeks. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.

Age restriction

Adults 18 and over for depression. Fluoxetine is licensed from age 8 for moderate-to-severe depression under specialist supervision. Other SSRIs are not recommended under 18 for depression.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
