Symbicort combines budesonide (corticosteroid) with formoterol (a fast-acting LABA). What makes it special is that formoterol works quickly enough to be used as a reliever too, allowing Symbicort to be used as both your daily preventer and your rescue inhaler - this is called MART (Maintenance and Reliever Therapy).
